[:en]Scripture Reading: 2 Samuel 19:1-23
Biblical Truth: David was forgiving who desired to turn enemies into friends. He tried to win defeated foe to his side and make him an ally. He spared the life of Shimei and won the allegiance of the house of Saul and many Benjamites. He also appointed Amasa, Absalom’s commander of the army to become his commander to replace Joab. By doing this, all the forces under Amasa’s command and the tribe of Judah came under David’s reign.
Personal Application: God is patient and forgiving. He sent Jonah to preach repentance to the people of Nineveh. He forgives sinners who turned from their wicked ways. Let us cultivate the virtue of forgiveness and turn our enemies into friends.
Prayer: Lord, give us a forgiving heart so that we can overcome evil with good.
