[:en]Thoughts from Luke 4[:]

[:en]After fasting for 40 days in the desert, the devil came to tempt Jesus  three times:

First temptation – Devil:  “If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread” (v. 3) .   Jesus’ reply:  “It is written, man does not live by bread alone” (v. 4)

Second temptation –  Devil:  I will give you all these authorities and splendor  if you worship me”  (vs. 6-7).    Jesus’ reply:  “It is written:  ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve Him only” (v. 8)

Third temptation:  Devil:  “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down from here for it is written:  “He will command his angels concerning you to guard your carefully, they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone” (vs. 9-11).    Jesus’ reply:  “Do not put the Lord your God to the test” (v. 12)

Beware of the 3 temptation methods used by Satan: (1 John 2:16)

  1. Lust of the flesh – he told Jesus to satisfy his hunger
  2. Lust of the eyes – he showed Jesus all the worldly things
  3. Pride of life – he asked Jesus to prove himself as Son of God

But Jesus overcome temptation by using the Word of God as his weapon.  Let us all commit to read the Bible.[:]
