[:en]Jonathan trusted God and attacked the Philistines. He strengthened the army and challenged them to new victories. Saul had bound the people under oath not to eat food before evening came or before he had avenged himself on their enemies. When the entire army entered the wood and saw the honey, they did not eat because they feared the oath. But Jonathan did not know that his father had bound the people with the oath, so he ate the honey and his eyes brightened. When Saul learned that Jonathan had broken the oath, he wanted to kill Jonathan but the men defended and rescued him. There was battle with the Philistines all the days of Saul.[:]
