[:en]Thoughts from 1 Samuel 20[:]

[:en]Jonathan and David were best friends and they re-affirm their oath out of love for each other.  Through their secret agreement, Jonathan would inform David if his father would intend to kill.  When it was clear for David to leave, they kissed each other and wept and sworn friendship with each other in the name of the Lord saying:  “The Lord is witness between you and me and between your descendants and my descendants forever” (v.42)

Are you a true friend?

“A Friend loves at all times and a brother is born for adversity” (Prov. 17:17)

“Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart, and the pleasantness of one’s friend springs from his earnest counsel” (Prov. 27:9)

“A man of many companions may come to ruin but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother” (Prov. 18:24)
