[:en]Many believed in the flattery and lies of Absalom and joined him.  Ittai was a foreigner but he stayed with David.  Ahitophel, the grandfather of Bathsheba (2 Samm. 23:34) also abandoned David and joined the rebellion.  Hushai, the Arkite wanted to stay with David but David told him to return to Absalom so that he could help him frustrate Ahithophel’s advice.[:]
