- He is anointed by God (v. 1)
- The Spirit of the Lord spoke to him the Word of God (v. 2)
- He must fear God and rule in righteousness (vs. 3-4)
David was surrounded by people of ability and loyalty. He had mighty men who risked their lives and broke the Philistines lines to draw water for him from the well near the gate of Bethlehem. David was so touched by what they did that he would not selfishly enjoy what had cost them so dearly.
