[:en]David instructed his men to bring up the ark of God. They set the ark of God on a new cart instead of carrying by the shoulder of men. When the oxen carrying the ark stumbled, Uzzah reached out and took hold of the ark of God. The Lord struck him dead because God does not need man’s hand to keep it steady and safe. So David was afraid and left the ark in the house of Obed-Edom. Later, when David knew that the household of Obed-Edom was blessed because of the ark, he went down and brought up the ark of God in God’s way. He danced before the Lord with shouts and the sound of trumpets. When David returned home, Michal despised him because she regarded David’s public worship and praise was undignified and shameful. As a result, she had no children to the day of her death (v. 23)[:]
