[:en]The intended wife of Samson was given to another man by his father-in-law. Due to his his anger, he retaliated by burning the Philistene’s harvest and the Philistines in turn burned the bride and her father. Then the men of Judah became frightened and tried to get Samson out of the way. They preferred to compromise with the enemy rather than declare war. So they tied Samson up with rope to hand him over to the Philistines. When the Philistine came, Samson found a fresh jawbone of a donkey, and struck down a thousand men (v. 15). He asked water from the Lord and God opened up water for him. Samson led Israel for 20 years in the days of the Philistines. (v. 20)[:]
