[:en]Zacchaeus, the Tax Collector:
Zacchaeus was a wealthy chief tax collector who wanted to see Jesus. But his height hindered him, so he ran and climbed a sycamore fig tree to see Him. Jesus saw him and said: “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today” (v. 5) “Today, salvation has come to this house …. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost” (v. 9)
*Jesus is ready to accept those who have repented and wish to follow Him*
The Parable of the 10 Minas:
3 Servants that accepted the Minas and their accountability to the master:
- He earned 10 more – he was given 10 more cities to take charge
- He earned 5 more – he was given 5 cities to take charge
- He kept it and earned nothing – His mina was taken away and given to the first one
“To everyone who has, more will be given but as for the one who has nothing, even what he has will be taken away” (v. 26)
*The Lord has a valuable commission to us. If we faithfully serve him, we will be rewarding when He returns. Believers in Christ are responsible to work toward God’s goals and purpose*
The Triumphal Entry:
During His triumphant entry, the crowd of disciples praised God saying: “Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord. Peace in heaven and glory in the highest” (v. 38)
Jesus at the Temple:
When Jesus entered the temple area, he drove out those who were selling saying: “My house will be a house of prayer, but you have made it a den of robbers” (v. 46)
*The church is a place for worship. We must keep it holy. We are not to use the church for recreation, entertainment, business activities, social activities or any secular purposes*
