[:en]Thoughts from “Our Daily Bread” (4/16/17)[:]

[:en]Charlotte Elliott was invalid for many years.  She felt useless and her inner agony made her to begin doubting her faith in God.  But in response to her doubt, she wrote the  hymn “Just as I Am” to express her commitment to the Lord.

Thomas doubted Jesus’ resurrection when he said: “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were and put my hand into his side, I will not believe” (John 20:25).  A week later, Jesus appeared t his disciples again and said to Thomas: “Put your finger here, see my hands.  Reach out your hand and put it into my side.  Stop doubting and believe” (John 20:27)  Then Jesus said:  “Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed” (John 20:29)

There are earthly circumstances that cause doubt to creep into our minds.  May we overcome our unbelief by trusting our Lord even though we cannot see Him personally.[:]
