[:en]Thoughts from “Our Daily Bread” (4/04/17)[:]

[:en]1 Corinthians 10:13:  “When you are tempted, He will provide a way out so that your can endure it” is used by some to support the statement “God never gives us more than we can handle”.   But the context of these words refers to temptation not suffering.  God will provide us the way out of temptation but we can not choose a way out of suffering.

Jesus Himself wanted a way out of His upcoming suffering when He prayed: “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death……. My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me” (Mat. 26:38-39).  Yet He himself went through suffering at the cross for our salvation.

*When you are suffering,  you can call upon His name for help because He is our refuge and strength*[:]
