[:en]Thoughts from 1 Chronicles 1 – 9[:]

[:en]The Chronicles were written for the exiles who had returned to Israel after the Babylonian captivity.  These chapters outlined the history from Adam through the death of King Saul.  It reminded them that they were from the royal line of David and were God’s chosen people.

These names may seem insignificant but they all played a part in working out of God’s plan in the world.  Some names that stood out in the list were:

  1. Abram’s name was changed to Abraham (1:17)
  2. Achar who was called Achan in Joshua brought trouble to Israel (2:7)
  3. Jabez, who asked God to bless him and enlarge his territory and to keep him from harm which God had granted him (4:10)
  4. Reuben sinned and his right as first born were given to the sons of Joseph (5:1)
