[:en]Satan incited David to take a census of Israel which showed his pride.  The Lord was angry and commissioned Gad to tell David to take his choice from among the 3 punishments from God:  3 years of famine, 3 months of being swept away from his enemies, 3 days of plague in the land.  David chose the third.  So 70k men of Israel died.  David repented of his sins and asked for God’s mercy.  He was told to build an altar to the Lord on the threshing floor of Araunah.  Although Araunah wanted to give him the lot, David paid him 600 shekels of gold.  He made burnt offerings and fellowship offerings and the Lord accepted his sacrifice.[:]
