- Josiah obeyed the Word of God. He removed all that was evil and did what was good. He called on the people to celebrate the Passover. He renewed the covenant with the Lord. But when he marched out to face Neco, the king of Egypt, he was killed at Megiddo. His son Jehoahaz was made king in his place.
- Jehoahaz reigned Jerusalem for 3 months and did evil in the eyes of the Lord. Pharaoh Neco put him in chains and carried him to Egypt where he died (vs. 33-34). Pharaoh made Eliakim, son of Josiah as king and changed his name to Jehoiakim. He taxed the people to pay Neco the silver and gold demand by him.
