- Jehoiakim reigned in Jerusalem for 11 years. He did evil in the eyes of the Lord. During his reign, Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon invaded the land and Jehoiakim became his vassal for 3 years. But he changed his mind and rebelled against Nebuchadnezar. The Lord sent Babylonians, Aramean, Moabilte and Ammonite raiders against him. Jehoiakim rested with his fathers, and Jehoiachin, his son succeeded him as king.
- Jehoiachin reigned in Jerusalem for 3 months. He did evil in the eyes of the Lord. Nebuchadnezzar advanced on Jerusalem and laid seize to it. Jehoiachin and his family, including all his officials surrendered to him. Nebuchadnezzar removed all the treasures from the temple and royal place and took away all the gold articles. He carried into exile all of Jerusalem and left only the poorest people of the land. He took Jehoiachin captive and made Mattaniah, Jehoiachin’s uncle, king in his place and changed his name to Zedekiah.
- Zedekiah became king and reigned in Jerusalem for 11 years. He did evil in the eyes of the Lord and rebelled against the king of Babylon.
