[:en]Thoughts from “Light to My Path” (5/23/17)[:]

[:en]Scripture Reading:  Romans 15:22-33

Biblical Truth:  Poverty had been a problem in the church of Jerusalem since the earliest time (Acts 4:34, 6:1).  So Paul challenged the church of Macedonia and Achaia to help the Christians in need at Jerusalem.  He reminded them that the Jewish believers had shared the spiritual blessings of the gospel with them (v. 29), so their gifts would be a grateful acknowledgment of the benefits they had received.  He wanted to teach the strong Gentile church and the poorer Jerusalem church about true unity between Christians.

Personal Application:  Let us share not only our spiritual blessings of gospel but also material blessings and support those in need.

Prayer:  Thank God for the many blessings that you have given us.  Give us a generous heart and a compassionate spirit to share our love with others.[:]
