[:en]Thoughts from Job 1[:]

[:en]Job was upright and blameless. He had 7 sons and e daughters.  He was a wealthy and the greatest man among all the people of the East. (vs. 1-3).  One day, the Lord said to Satan.:  “Have you considered my servant Job?  There is no one on earth like him.   He is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil” (v. 8).  But Satan refuted and said:  “If you stretch out your hand and strike everything he has, he will surely curse you to your face” (v. 11).  So, the Lord allowed Satan to do anything to him but not to lay a finger on Job himself (v. 12)

Job’s trials began:

  1. His oxen and donkeys were carried away by the Saleans and his servants were killed. (vs.14-15)
  2. The fire of God fell from the sky and burned up the sheep and the servants (v. 16)
  3. The Chaldeans swept down his camels and carried them off.  They put the servants to the sword (v. 17)
  4. A mighty wind swept in from the dust and struck the house where his sons and daughter were staying.  The house collapsed and all his sons and daughters died.

Job fell to the ground in worship and said:  “Naked I come from my mother’s womb and naked I will depart.  The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away.  May the name of the Lord be praised” (v. 21)

When we are experiencing financial problems, let this verse  “Naked I come from my mother’s womb and naked I will depart.  The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away” be our comfort.
