[:en]Nehemiah, the Levites, the leaders of the people and the rest of the people bind themselves with a curse and an oath to follow the Law of God and to obey carefully all the commands regulations and decrees of the Lord (v. 28). Their promises include:
- Not to intermarry with people around them (v. 30)
- Not to buy or sell on the Sabbath or any holy day and will forgo working the land every 7th year (v. 31)
- To give for the service of the house of the Lord and for all the offerings (grain, burnt, holy, sin, Sabbath, New Moon festivals) (v. 32)
- To burn the altar of the Lord (v. 34)
- To bring each year the first fruits of the crops and fruit tree (v. 35)
- To bring the firstborn of sons, cattle herds, flocks to the house of God (v. 36)
- To bring to the storerooms of the house of God, and to provide the priest the first of their ground meal (v. 36)
