[:en]Thoughts from Nehemiah 10[:]

[:en]Nehemiah, the Levites, the leaders of the people and the rest of the people bind themselves with a curse and an oath to follow the Law of God and to obey carefully all the commands regulations and decrees of the Lord (v. 28).  Their promises include:

  1.  Not to intermarry with people around them (v. 30)
  2.  Not to buy or sell on the Sabbath or any holy day and will forgo working the   land every 7th year (v. 31)
  3. To give for the service  of the house of the Lord and for all the offerings  (grain, burnt, holy, sin, Sabbath, New Moon festivals) (v. 32)
  4. To burn the altar of the Lord (v. 34)
  5. To bring each year the first fruits of the crops and fruit tree (v. 35)
  6. To bring the firstborn of sons, cattle herds, flocks to the house of God (v. 36)
  7. To bring to the storerooms of the house of God, and to provide the priest the first of their ground meal (v. 36)
