[:en]Eliashib, the priest was in charged of the storeroom of the house of God. He provided Tobiah a room in the courts of the house of God formerly used to store grain offerings and incense and temple articles, tithes of grains, new wine and oil. When Nehemiah came back to Jerusalem and knew that Tobiah had accupry the storeroom, he ordered to purify the rooms. He threw all Tobiah’s household goods out of the room and put back all the equipments of the house of God, with the grain offerings and the incense. He also discovered that all the Levites and singers had gone back to their own fields because they were not given the portion assigned for them. So he called them back and put Shelemiah, the priest, Zadok the scribe and Pedarah, a Levite in charge of the storeroom with Hanar as his assistant. He forbid selling of merchandise on the Sabbath day and suit the doors so that no load could be brought in. He also rebuked those who married foreign women from Ashdod, Ammon and Moab. He drove away Joiada, the son of Eliashib, the high priest because he married the daughter of Saballat, the Heronite.
