[:en]Scripture Reading:  Matthew 8:28-34

Biblical Truth:  Two demon-possessed men came from the tombs to meet Jesus.  Then they asked Jesus if he had come to torture them before the appointed time.  They begged him to send them into the herds of pigs.  Jesus did, and the whole herd rushed down to the lake and drowned. (vs. 28-34)

When the people heard what Jesus had done to the demon possessed men and the pigs, they pleaded him to leave their town.  They did not rejoice over the two men who had been cured but resented over the loss of their pigs.  They valued their livelihood more than the lives of the two healed men.

Personal Application:  Do you value your possessions above human life?  “Pigs” refer to the sinful habits that prevented us from worshiping God.   We must confess our sins and turn to Jesus in repentance to live a life that is pleasing to Him.

Prayer:  Dear Jesus, please cleanse us from our iniquities so that we can live a life away from sin.[:]
