[:en]Scripture Reading:  Matthew 5:27-37

Biblical Truth:  Jesus condemns hypocrisy (Mat. 23:27).  He makes the point that judgmentalism is vitiated by hidden sinfulness.  He wants us to be sterner with our own sins and more compassionate with the frailties of others.  He emphasizes on self-control to reinforce the idea of responsibility.

Personal Application:  Habitually, we are soft on ourselves but ruthless towards others.  But God wants us to be merciless on our own sins and judge the sins of others in mercy and in truth.

Prayer:  Dear Lord, may you help us to have self-control so that we can achieve purity and righteousness in our lives.[:]
