[:en]Thoughts from “Light to My Path” (7/07/17)[:]

[:en]Scripture Reading:  Matthew 6:1-6

Biblical Truth:  There are two seemingly and contradicting instruction on practising charity given by Jesus.  First, we are to “let our light so shine before men that they may see our good deeds and praise our Father in heaven” (Mat. 5:16).  Secondly, we are required to be careful in doing acts of righteousness ‘before men'” (Mat. 6:1)

In practising charity and acts of righteousness , it must point to God and not for self-glorification.  Our giving must build up others and honor God.

Personal Application:  When our “:God awareness” gives ways to the cravings for popularity in our giving and service to the Lord, it robs our faith of its spiritual merit.

Prayer:  Dear Jesus, let me focus on you to do everything as an offering to you and not to seek for human approval.[:]
