[:en]Psalm 3 is a Psalm of David when he fled from his son Absalom. It was a prayer in a time of trouble. David mentioned “many” 3 times in the first two verses about his enemies. And in verse 6, he spoke of “tens of thousands” drawing up against him on every side. But David looked upon the Lord in 4 ways:
- My Shield (v. 3a) – In olden days, a soldier used shield to protect himself from spear and arrows. Today, “the shield of faith” will be able to quench all the flaming arrows of the evil one. (Eph. 6:16).
- My Glory (v. 3b) – The Lord was the one who lifted up his head. God’s glory is reveal in his greatness and goodness. We can trust him to lift us up in glory in times of discouragement and depression.
- My Sustenance (v. 5) – David was not afraid of the tens of thousands of his enemies. He found peace as he lied down to sleep and woke up again. You are not to be afraid of anything because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world” (1 John 4:4) If people are tying to harm you, remember his promises” Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10)
- My Deliverer (v. 8) – God set the Israelites free from slavery in Egypt. He had also delivered David from his enemies. How about you? Are you in a difficult situation that needs God’s protection and deliverance? The only solution is to say: “I will put my trust in Him” (Hebrew 2:13)
If you are in great distress, find strength in the Lord. If you are in fear and anxiety, have faith in God. If you need protection, look for his deliverance.[:]
