[:en]Thoughts from Psalm 22[:]

[:en]David described his agony of  suffering and deep distress.  It also depicted vividly how Jesus Christ had suffered on the cross.

The sufferings of David:

A)-He felt being abandoned by God (vs. 1-2)

B)-He was like a worm and not a man, scorned and despised by the people.  He was mocked and insulted. (vs. 6-7)

C)-He had enemies who were like bulls of Bashan (v. 12), roaring lions (v. 13) and dogs (vs 16, 20) that attacked him

D)-His body was in pain with all his bones seemed out of joint and his mouth dried up (vs. 14-17)

The suffering of Christ:

A)-He felt his Father had forsaken him (Mat. 27:46, Mark 15:34)

B)-He was mocked and his enemies said:  “He trust in God, let God deliver him now” (Mat. 27:33-34)

C)-The soldiers divided his garments among themselves and cast lots for his tunic (John 19:23-24)

D)-His hands and feet were pierced and he was crucified.  It was similar to the description in vs. 14-17 of how David suffered.

In conclusion, the Psalmist was rescued just as Jesus was resurrected.  Jesus shares the blessings of calvary with His church (v. 22), with Israel (v. 23) and with the whole world (vs. 27-31)
