[:en]David was asking God to give him relief from distress and help him deal with inner turmoil. (v. 1).  He has the total assurance that the Lord will hear him. (v. 3).  He faced his anger honestly without sinning by offering right sacrifices and trusting in the Lord. (v. 5)  As a result, he was blessed and his heart was filled with great joy.

When you are fearful, worried, troubled, or discouraged, meditate this verse:  “I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety” (v. 8).  God had promised that nothing can separate us from his love and the sufferings of the present cannot be compared with what God has in store for us. (Rom. 8:18. 38-39.  He left us with this words:  “Perace I leave with you, my peace I give to you.  Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” (John 14:27)[:]
