[:en]Scripture Reading:  Matthew 15:21-28

Biblical Truth:  A Canaanite woman from the region of Tyre and Sidon came to Jesus and asked him to heal her daughter suffering from demon possession.  But Jesus answered:  “I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel.  It is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to their dogs” (v. 24)  And she answered:  “Yes, Lord, but even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master’s table”  (v. 27)  With this reply, Jesus granted her request and her daughter was healed on that very hour.  Jesus’ words to the Canaanite woman seemed harsh and rude, but his words are as much to the crowd as for her.  He is inviting her to model faith publicly.

Personal Application:  Jesus gave us examples of faith on children, on a Roman centurion, a woman with menstrual problem and a Canaanite woman.  Those were our models of faith.  God will answer your prayer if you have great faith in him.

Prayer:  Dear Jesus, sometimes we do not get an answer when we pray.  Your silence may be your long way of testing our patience to wait upon your time and on our determination to believe in your promise.[:]
