[:en]Doez, the Edomite was a traitor who told Saul that David had gone to the house of Ahimeleh. As a result, Saul ordered Ahimelech and his family killed. When David heard about it, he was saddened and wrote this Psalm.
David described Doez as a mighty and wealthy man who loved evil. He was a treacherous man with a boastful, sharp and deceitful tongue (vs. 1-4). His life had no foundation because he trusted in his great wealth thereby destroying others (v. 7). God shall snatch and uproot him up from the land of the living (v. 5).
David compared himself to an olive tree because he trusted in God’s unfailing love. He praised God for His deeds and hoped in His name (vs. 8-9).
Do you want to be like an olive tree in the house of God? Are you productive and bearing fruits that bless others?[:]
