[:en]This book was written by King Solomon who called himself the “Teacher” He wanted to seek an answer to the meaning of life. He looked at everything in life: – life and death, success and failure, time and events, wisdom and folly, pleasure and work, power and riches. All of these can only have lasting value if God is at the center of man’s life. He concluded that without God, everything is meaningless.
Everything is meaningless:
- Man does not gain from all his labor (v. 3)
- All things are wearisome (v. 8)
- There is nothing new under the sun (v. 9)
- There is no remembrance of men of old (v. 11)
Wisdom is meaningless:
“For with much wisdom comes much sorrow; the more knowledge, the more grief” (v. 18)[:]
