[:en]”Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say ‘I find please in them'”(v. 1)

Infirmities of Old  Age:

  1. Keepers of the house tremble –  Fear of everything  (v. 3a)
  2. Strong men stoop – falling down (v. 3b)
  3. Grinders cease because they are few – falling teeth (v. 3c)
  4. Those looking at the windows grow dim – decay of sight  (v. 3d)
  5. Doors to the street are closed – difficulty in speaking  (v. 4a)
  6. Sound of grinding fades – hearing impairment (v. 4b)
  7. Men rise up at the sound of birds – insomnia (v. 4c)
  8. Men are afraid of heights and dangers in the streets – nervousness (v. 5a)
  9. Almond tree blossoms – Hair getting gray and gone white (v. 5b)
  10. The grasshopper drags himself along – difficulty in walking (v. 5c)
  11. Desire no longer is stirred – loss of food appetite and sensual pleasures (v. 5d)
  12. Silver cord is severed – Spinal cord disorder (v. 6a)
  13. Golden bowl is broken – memory failure (v. 6b)
  14. Pitcher is shattered – dysfunctional veins (v. 6c)
  15. Wheel broken at the well – defective arteries  (v. 6 d)
  16. Dust returns to the ground – death (v.7)

Solomon considers everything meaningless (v. 8)  His conclusion was as follows:

“Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.  For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil” (v. 14)
