[:en]Rules for Holy Living:
- Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things (v. 2)
- Put to death the earthly nature of sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires, greed and idolatry (v. 5)
- Rid yourselves of anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips (v. 8)
- Do not lie to each other (v. 9)
- Put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator (v. 10)
- Clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience (v. 12)
- Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances your may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you (v. 13)
- Put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity (v. 14)
- Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts and be thankful (v. 15)
- Let the word of Christ dwell in you (v. 16a)
- Admonish one another with all wisdom as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God (v. 16b)
- Whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus (v. 17)
Rules for Christian Households:
Wives must submit to her husband (v. 18) and husbands must love their wives (v. 19). Children should obey their parents (v. 20) and fathers should not embitter their children (v. 21). Slaves should obey their earthly master (v. 22) and masters must provide their slaves with what is right and fair (4:1). Whatever you do , work it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men since it is the Lord Christ you are serving, who will give you an inheritance as a reward. (vs. 23-24) Anyone who does wrong will be repaid for his wrong, and there is no favoritism. (v. 25)
