- Be imitators of God (v. 1)
- Live a life of love (v. 2)
- Sexual immorality, impurity, greed, obscenity, foolish talk and coarse joking are not allowed (v. 3-4)
- Impurity and greediness are prohibited (v. 5)
- Do not be deceived by people with empty words and do not be partners with them (vs. 6-7)
- Live as children of light (goodness, righteousness and truth) (vs. 8-9)
- Find out what pleases the Lord (v. 10)
- Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them (v. 11)
- Live carefully and wisely (v. 15)
- Make the most of every opportunity (v. 16)
- Understand what the Lord’s will is (v. 17)
- Do not get drunk on wine but be filed with the Spirit (v. 18)
- Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs (v. 19)
- Always give thanks to God for everything (v. 20)
- Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ (v. 21)
Rules for Husbands and Wives:
Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord (v. 22)
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her (v. 25)
“For this reason, a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh” (v. 31)[:]
