[:en]Thoughts from Isaiah 39[:]

[:en]The king of Babylon sent envoys with letters and a gift to King Hezekiah after his recovery from illness.  King Hezekiah received the envoys gladly and showed them all that was found in his storehouse – silver, gold, spices, fine oils, his entire armory  and all his treasures (vs. 1-2).  Then Isaiah came to tell him that a time will come when everything in his palace will be carried off by Babylon including his descendants who will become eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon (vs. 5-7).  Instead of repenting, King Hezekiah felt relieved that judgment would not come in his days (v. 8)

The king of Babylon wanted cooperation with Judah in opposing the Assyrians.  But they were the real enemies of Judah that used flattery and deceit to get entry to King Hezekiah.

Pride can overtake discernment.  Flattery can overlook deception.  Always keep in touch with the Lord to give you the wisdom and that you need.[:]
