[:en]Thoughts from Isaiah 59[:]

[:en]What are some of the sins that people commit?

  1. Hands that kill and fingers that is guilty (v. 3a)
  2. Lips that speak lies and tongue that mutters wicked things (v. 3b)
  3. Feet that rush into sin and swift to shed innocent blood (v. 7a)
  4. Thoughts that are evil (v. 7b)

As a result, there is no justice and righteousness; there is no light but darkness (v. 9).  There is no truth or honesty (v. 15).  So God himself intervened.  He put on righteousness as his breastplate, helmet of salvation on his head.  He put on the garments of vengeance and wrapped himself in a zeal as in a cloak.  He will repay according to what they have done (vs. 17-18).  The Redeemer will come to Zion and to those in Jacob who repent of their wins (v. 20)

God’s covenant to His people:

“My Spirit, who is on you and my words that I have put in your mouth will not depart from your mouth or from the mouths of your children or from the mouths of their descendants” (vs. 19)[:]
