[:en]The Lord reminded His people about the term of His covenants to their forefathers to obey and do everything that God had commanded.  Then, he will give them a land flowing with milk and honey which they were possessing now. (vs. 1-5)_.  But the new generation entered the land and turned to idols (vs 6-8)  So the Babylonians came and captured their cities. Their false god could not save them and God would not defend them nor listen to the prayer of His servant (vs. 9-17)  Friends and relatives of Jeremiah plotted to kill him but God defended him.
