[:en]2 Complaints of Jeremiah: (v. 1)

  1. Why does the way of the wicked prosper?
  2. Why do all the faithless live at ease?

God’s reply cautioned him to make preparation for his trials ahead.  He would go from racing with men to racing with horses, from a safe country to the flooding of Jordan (v. 5)  The enemy was coming like wild beasts to devour them.  Their vineyard and garden would be trampled down (v. 9)  But the merciful God had compassion on them.  He promised to judge the invading nations and free Judah from her exile if they would follow God’s way (vs. 14-17)[:]
