[:en]Thoughts from Jeremiah 7[:]

[:en]The people of Israel listened to the false prophets and put their confidence on the temple (v. 4) and the sacrifices (v. 21).  But the temple and sacrifices can not please God apart from sincere devotion to the Lord.  They depended on false religion (vs. 30-31) and followed the stubborn inclination of the evil hearts. (v. 24).  So the Lord rejected and abandoned them (v. 29) and their land will become desolate (v. 34).

“Obey me, and I will be your God and you will be my people.  Walk in all the ways I command you that it may go well with you” (v. 23)

True source of confidence comes from the Lord.[:]
