[:en]Paul wrote this letter when he was in prison at Rome about AD 60. The church of Philippi was a source of joy to Paul. He thank them for their love and helpfulness.
Partnership in the Gospel: “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus” (v. 6)
Advancing the Gospel: Some preached Christ out of envy, rivalry, selfish ambition to stir up trouble for Paul while he was in chain. But it did not matter to him. The important thing was that in every way, whether from false motives, Christ was preached. (vs. 15-18)
Living the Gospel: “For me to live is Christ and to die is gain” (v. 21) Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ (v. 27)
Suffering for the Gospel: “For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe on Him, but also to suffer for Him: (v. 29)
