[:en]The Edomites were descendants of Esau, the brother of Jacob. They harbored an ancient hostility toward Israel. They helped the Babylonians ravage Jerusalem (Obadia 10-14). And they rejoiced over the calamity and punishment of Israel. So God was going to turn them into ruins and make Edom desolate.
Beware of harboring hatred and grudge towards someone. The judgment you want to fall on your enemy may fall on you. (v. l5)[:]
