[:en]Scripture Reading: Genesis 3
Biblical Truth: Eve was being tempted by 3 things:
- The fruit of the tree was good for food
- It was pleasing to the eye
- It was desirable for gaining wisdom
This was how they justified themselves:
Adam said: “The woman you put here with me, she gave me some fruit from the tree and I ate it” (v. 12) – He was blaming God for putting the woman with him
Eve said: “The serpent deceived me and I ate” (v. 13) – She was blaming the presence of serpent whom God put there.
Personal Application: Today, we are also being tempted by 3 things: (1 John 2:16)
- The lust of the flesh
- The lust of the Eye
- The pride of life
May we stand firm in His word and obey what He has commanded us to do. May we learn to be humble enough to confess our sins instead of finding reasons to justify our sins and put the blame on others.
Prayer: Dear Jesus, thank you for sacrificing yourself on the cross by bruising once and for all the serpent’s head and defeating Satan.[:]
