[:en]Scripture Reading: Revelations 2:12-17
Biblical Truth: Since the earliest temple for the worship of the emperor was built in Pergamum, the early Christians who faithfully witnessed for Christ became a potential martyr under the threat of the emperor’s sword. Antipas was traditionally believed to have been “roasted to death in a bronze kettle during the reign of Domitian”. Aside from persecution, Satan also attacked them through seduction by the world. Some church members in Pergamum were holding the teachings of Balaam and Nicolaitans and sinned by eating food sacrificed to idols and by committing sexual immorality. )vs. 14-15) They were told to repent, otherwise they would fall under the judgement of two-edged sword.
Personal Application: Today, worldliness surrounds us and knock on our heart’s door. To avoid being tempted, we need to come under God’s surgery to cleanse our hearts and minds.
Prayer: Dear Jesus, strengthen us to follow your truth. Help us to remain faithful to you till the end.[:]
