[:en]Philemon was a leader of the church at Colossae and a friend of Paul. He had a slave, Onesimus, who had stolen money from him and run away to Rome. While he was there, he met Paul and become a Christian. Paul sent him back with this letter to Philemon requesting him to forgive Onesimus and to treat him as a brother in Christ instead of a runaway slave.
Paul’s Plea for Onesimus:
I appeal to you on the basis of love for my son Onesimus, who become my son while I was in chains. Formerly, he was useless to you but now he has become useful both to you and to me. I am sending him back to you for good – no longer as a slave but as a dear brother. So, if your consider me as a partner, welcome him as you would welcome me. If he has done you any wrong, or owes you anything, charge it to me. I will pay it back. (vs. 9-19+)
Paul was a reconciler who was willing to pay the price himself. Can God use you as a reconciler? Are you willing to pay the price for others?[:]
