[:en]Thoughts from Amos 5[:]

[:en]Amos lamented for Israel because the Assyrians would come and take them captive.  God wanted them to seek Him and live (vs. 4, 6, 14).  The people did injustice (v. 7), trampled the poor (v. 11), oppressed the righteous and took bribes and deprive the poor of justice in court (v. 12)  They had religious fast, they brought burnt offering, grain offering and fellowship offering but God won’t accept them (vs. 21-22).  They sang songs of praise with harps but God won’t listen to them (v. 23).

The Days of the Lord was approaching and that day, there would be darkness but light (vs. 18, 20).  They would be sent into exile beyond Damascus (v. 27).

Let us examine our way of life.  Do we walk the talk?  When Christ returns, He will also bring judgment to those who disobeyed him.[:]
