They made idols for themselves to their own destruction. The famous calf of Samaria would be destroyed and Israel will be swallowed up by other nations under the oppression of the mighty king and became like a worthless thing.
Although Ephraim built many altars and offer sacrifices, but the Lord was not pleased because they were wicked. Israel built palaces and Judah fortified their towns but neither could deliver from judgment. Israel would be invaded by Assyria and Judah by Babylon.
