Biblical Truth: The Roman state under Domitian not only asserted its military and political will over its subjects, it also demanded to be worshiped as true God. The emperor was proffered as the incarnation of divinity. At end times, the beast coming out of the earth appears like a lamb, but it was an offspring of the dragon. False messiah will duplicate the functions of the true messiah.
Personal Application: The christian community must maintain the testimony of our Messiah, Jesus. We must not give temporal powers worship but be wise to discern the difference between what is true and what is counterfeit.
Prayer: Dear Lord, May the blood of Christ seal us and give us discernment to know what is true and what is false.
