[:en]When the temple in Jerusalem was desecrated, their land laid waste and the people of Judah went into exile, the Ammonites rejoiced and celebrated their misfortunes. God was displeased and they reaped grim consequences.
When disaster befalls an unfriendly and troublesome neighbor, we may secretly rejoice at his downfall. But Proverbs 24:17 warned us: “Do not gloat when your enemy falls, when they stumble, do not let your heart rejoice”. Jesus tells us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us. (Mat. 5:44). Let us follow His command and imitate His perfect love.[:]
