[:en]Thoughts from Genesis 18[:]

[:en]Abraham saw 3 men standing nearby and invited them to his house to eat and get some rest.  They informed Abraham that about this time next year, Sarah will have a son.  When Sarah heard it, she laughed to herself saying:  “After I am worn out and my master is old, will I now have this pleasure?” (v. 12)  But the Lord said to Abraham:  “Is there anything too hard for the Lord?  I will return to you at the appointed time next year and Sarah will have a son” (v. 14)

The Lord told Abraham that the outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah was so great and their sin so grievous.  God was going to destroy them.  But Abraham pleaded for mercy 6 times.  From 50 to 45 to 40 to 30 to 20 to 10.  The Lord answered:  “For the sake of 10, I will not destroy it” (v. 32)[:]
