[:en]God gave the priesthood to the tribe of Levi and told them to teach His laws but they had disobeyed His Word, dishonored Him and violated the covenant with the Lord. So God sent a curse upon them and rebuked their descendants.
Judah was unfaithful to God when they desecrated the sanctuary of the Lord by marrying the daughter of a foreign god. They brought offerings to the Lord Almighty, but the Lord did not accept it because they divorced with the wife of their marriage and married foreign women.
“I hate divorce”, says the Lord God of Israel, “and I hate a man’s covering himself with violence as well as with his garment”. So guard yourself in your spirit, and do not break faith” (v. 16-17).[:]
