[:en]When King Herod was pleased with the dance of the daughter Herodias, he promised with an oath to give her whatever she asked. Prompted by her mother, she asked for the head of John the Baptist to be placed on a platter. So John the Baptist was beheaded in the prison and his head was brought in on a platter and given to the girl, who carried it to her mother. (vs, 1-12)
When Jesus heard what had happened, he withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place. The crowds followed him and he had compassion on them and healed their sick. As evening came, He feeds the five thousand with five loaves and two fish. And there were 12 basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. (vs. 13-21)
Jesus told the disciples to go ahead of him to the other side by boat while he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. When evening came, Jesus went out and walk on the lake. The disciples thought it was a ghost, but Jesus said to them: “Take courage, It is I, Don’t be afraid”. Peter wanted to come down to the water and Jesus said: “Come”. Peter got down out of the boat and walked on the water. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and began to sink. He cried out: “Lord save me!”. Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. He said: “You of little faith, why did you doubt?” (vs. 22-31)
