[:en]Thoughts from Matthew 16[:]

[:en]When Jesus asked Simon Peter about who He was, Simon Peter answered:  “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God” (vs. 15-16)

Jesus replied:  Blessed are you, Simon, Son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven.  And I tell you that you are Peter, and on the rock I will build my church,m and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.  I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven’ whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be lossed in heaven” (vs. 17-19)

Jesus predicted His death and said:  “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.  For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it.  What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul?  Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?  For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father’s glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what he has done”  (vs. 24-27)[:]
