[:en]John the Baptist was preparing the way for Jesus. He preached the gospel of repentance and baptizing people. When he saw the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to where he was baptizing, he condemned them for not producing good fruit. He acknowledge that someone more powerful that he, whose sandals he was not fit to carry will come after him. He will baptize people with the Holy Spirit and with fire. (v. 11)
Then, Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John. As soon as Jesus was baptized and went up out of the water, heaven was opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on him. And a voice from heaven said” “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased” (vs. 13-17)[:]
